The Long Run App (iOS and macOS) is an independently developed, personal running-and-training-log app. This policy explains what data the app handles and where it goes.
Your runs, training plan, races, zone settings, and structured workouts are stored in a local database on your own device (iPhone/iPad or Mac). This data is never uploaded to any server operated by the developer — there is no developer-run backend at all. You can permanently delete this data at any time from Settings.
If you grant permission, the app reads your running, walking, and hiking workouts from Apple Health to build your training log. This access is read-only — the app does not write data back to Health, and Health data is not sent anywhere except as described below if you separately choose to connect Strava or AI Coach.
If you choose to connect a Strava account, the app uses Strava's own sign-in (OAuth) — your Strava password is never seen or stored by this app, only an access token. Once connected, run data may be synced between the app and your Strava account. You can disconnect at any time in Settings, which removes the stored token.
AI Coach commentary is off by default. If you turn it on, you supply your own API key for a provider you choose (Anthropic/Claude, Google Gemini, or Groq). That key is stored only in your device's own Keychain. When you use this feature, a summary of a workout (type, distance, duration, heart rate, pace, and zone data — no name, location, or other personal identifiers) is sent directly from your device to that provider's own servers to generate a short commentary. The developer never sees this traffic, this data, or your API key.
The app uses your local Wi-Fi/Bluetooth network only to sync your own data directly between your own devices (e.g. iPhone and Mac running the same app) and to receive workout data from a Garmin watch you've paired via Bluetooth. None of this leaves your own devices.
You can wipe the app's local database from Settings at any time, or simply delete the app, which removes all locally stored data. Disconnecting Strava or clearing an AI Coach key removes those stored credentials from the Keychain immediately.
